Annual Fort Leonard Wood Fishing Derby Set For Saturday

The Annual Fort Leonard Wood trout fishing derby is this Saturday. Registration begins at 9 am and the event goes from 10-1 pm. The derby will take place at Stone Mill Spring Recreation Area near Piney Valley Golf Course. If you are 15 or under you can compete in the derby. You must be accompanied by an adult. There is no need to have a permit to compete, and it is a free event. Adults are encouraged to help out but can not compete. There are over 500 rainbow trout to catch this year, and some of the trout have tags on them. If you catch a trout with a tag on them you can win a prize. The prizes are games and toys for the kids. You can keep 4 total fish that you catch. There will also be free hot dogs, soda, and water. This is a great time to learn how to fish.
