Following a special board meeting Thursday evening, the Waynesville School District has announced that Dr. Jason Whitt will become the new principal of Waynesville High School on July 1st. Whitt will replace Randy Luebbert, who is retiring. Whitt’s breadth of experience includes working in large and small high schools and both inner city and rural districts. He is known as an effective mentor who promotes Professional Learning Communities, implements plans to improve attendance, and celebrates academic achievements. Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Brian Henry, says, “Dr. Whitt is an experienced leader who was chosen from a field of excellent candidates. “He was chosen because of his strong focus on academic excellence through continuous improvement, which he achieves through building relationships with students, staff, and the community.” Whitt has been a principal at Fulton High School, Southeast High School in the Kansas City Public School District, and Lexington High School. Whitt also has served as an assistant superintendent of personnel and student services for Moberly Public Schools and as an adjunct professor at William Woods University. Whitt and his wife, Sheri Whitt, a math teacher, have been married for 20-plus years and have three dogs.
