Waynesville receives grant from DNR
The City of Waynesville has been awarded a grant from the Department of Natural Resources to evaluate the wastewater collection system. The grant offers funding to help cover engineering costs for evaluating system improvements. Waynesville City Administrator Bruce Harrill said they need to address the issue of stormwater getting into the system….
Harrill said that when there is heavy rain, the stormwater causes the sewer treatment system to be overloaded, and they want to take steps to prevent that from happening. The Small community Engineering Assistance Program Grant awarded to Waynesville is $50-thousand-dollars. The city will use the grant to fund the system evaluation, intended to identify wastewater system improvements needed to continue reliable service to the area and reduce inflow and infiltration of stormwater into sewer collection pipes. The facility improvement plan should be complete in September 2021.
