Veterans Day Parade And Other Saturday Events In Pulaski County

More than 70 patriotic floats and entries will be participating in the annual Chamber of Commerce Veterans Day parade that will be taking place this morning in St. Robert.
There will be a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 o’ clock in the St. Robert Municipal Center parking lot. That ceremony will be aired live here on KFBD-FM 97.9.
The parade will take off around 11:30 and travel to Missouri Avenue, travel north to the junction with the Route 66 City Route at Cum and Go. The parade will make a left turn onto the westbound city route and travel to the Church of God, then turn left onto the eastbound Route 66 City route, travel in front of KFBD-FM studios, and turn right onto J. H. Williamson Junior Drive, to end up at the St. Robert Community Center and Park.
Motorists are being advised that northbound Missouri Avenue and the Route 66 City Route will be closed during the course of the parade. Here’s Gracie Hutchinson, Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber of Commerce Office Manager.

Fort Leonard Wood officials are advising motorists on the post to take a different route in and out of the installation while the parade is underway. They say in a social media post that motorists should plan on using the West Gate when traveling off or on the installation to and from the St. Robert area between 11 o’ clock this morning and one-thirty this afternoon.
The Parade Marshal is John Moore, 2023 Veteran of the Year. The parade will feature the 399th Army Band and Waynesville High School Band, various service organizations, motorcycle groups, active duty military members from the Fort Wood Engineer School, MP School, CBRN School, Marine Corps, Navy Detachment, and the U. S. Air Force, and many other entries.
Participants in the parade are being advised that the drop-off location for the parade will be at the St. Robert Municipal Golf Course on Duffer Lane, off of Marshall Drive. Drop-offs will not be allowed in the Municipal Center Parking lot or Family Dollar Shopping Center. Parking will be available at Freedom Elementary School for anyone wishing to attend.
If you have more than one vehicle in the parade you MUST arrive to the line-up together to be in the parade together. Line-up will be between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.
When the parade comes within sight of KFBD studios, we will provide live streaming offered along with live video of the parade on myozarksonline.com. Live announcer coverage will be aired on KFBD 97.9.

Prior to the Veterans Day ceremony and events, there will be a Veterans Day ceremony by the St. Robert Historical Preservation Committee at the USO Chimney and Historical Monument at 403 VFW Memorial Drive at 9 o’ clock this morning. This is within sight of the parade route.
Preservation committee members are presenting a program they are calling, “In their honor, they answered the call and came out fighting.” The program will feature a moment of silence, songs, and guest speaker, retired Command Sergeant Major Rick Morris.

Right after the Veterans Day Parade today, VFW Post 3176 on Superior Road in St. Robert will be having a free fish fry. The fish fry is open to all for a donation.
A mushroom log workshop will be held as well after the parade. Sponsored by the Pulaski County Master Gardeners, it take place from 1 to 3 o’ clock this afternoon in pavilion number 3 in Roubidoux Park in Waynesville.
The workshop will instruct attendees how to prepare and inoculate hardwood logs with oyster and chestnut spawns. Margo Jakobi from Lincoln University’s Cooperative Extension and Master Gardener Stacy Kramer will be the instructors for the class

The 38th annual Dixon Area Chamber of Commerce Miss Merry Christmas Pageant will be taking place this evening in the high school gym. The pageant will feature 19 Little Miss Merry Christmas contenders, 11 Junior Miss Merry Christmas contestants, and 17 Miss Merrie Christmas candidates.
Doors will open at 5:30 and the pageant will begin at six o’ clock.
Admission will be $3 per adult, $1 per student, and free for children, age 3 and under.
Concessions will be available.
