Some Fort Leonard Wood military personnel will get their Thanksgiving meal a day early. Post officials say that’s because Noncommissioned Officer’s Academy and Basic Officer Leader Course members will help serve Thanksgiving meals on Thursday to Department of Defense I-D cardholders, retirees, Gold Star families, and veterans.
Members of the Noncommissioned Officer’s Academy and Basic Officer Leader Course will be served their Thanksgiving meal today from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Logistics Readiness Center in building 3223. The center will be closed tomorrow and will re-open on Monday for breakfast. The major meal serving day on Thursday will see the serving of more than 13-thousand meals during the lunch celebration, and 31-thousand plus meals throughout the day, utilizing 7,000 pounds of turkey, 1,500 pounds of shrimp, 2,000 pounds of prime rib, and 2,000 assorted cakes and pies with all the accompaniments. The Thanksgiving Day meal for DOD ID cardholders, retirees, Gold Star families, and veterans with access to the installation is from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Bldg. 6111, located at 6111 Indiana Avenue. The Thanksgiving holiday meal rate is $10.05 for all visitors, except spouses and other dependents of service members E-4 and below, who will pay the discounted holiday meal rate of $7.45.
