The Waynesville Board of Education has named Hilary Bales to be the new School Superintendent. According to a release from the school board, Bales currently serves as Waynesville’s assistant superintendent of personnel services and oversees the district’s nearly one thousand full and part-time employees. She led efforts to strengthen the district’s salary schedule to be competitive across all years of service, established an Aspiring Administrators Program, enhanced new teacher mentor programs, developed a teacher recruitment packet, promoted staff diversity and utilized social media to help recruit staff. Bales began her teaching career in the Waynesville R-VI School District in 2001. Bales will fill the role of superintendent following the retirement of Dr. Brian Henry. Dr. Henry will spend the next several months helping transition Bales into the role as Superintendent of Schools.
