Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival on Fort Wood
(Fort Leonard Wood)–April is the Month of the Military Child, and starting this month, Fort Leonard Wood Family and Morale, Welfare, and Recreation will kick off a Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival for children at Thayer Elementary School on Piney Hills Drive.
Children of all ages on the post are invited to sign up and participate in the Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival every Saturday from 9 a-m to 3 p-m through June.
Go to the MWR website, click on the “Sign Up” button to participate. Only ten children are allowed per time slot. Each Brigade will have a time slot each week. The Brigade time slots are 9 to 9:45 a-m for the Marine Corps Detachment and I-TRO members, 10 to 10:45 a-m for the 1st Engineer Brigade, 11 a-m to 11:45 a-m for the 3rd Chemical Brigade, 12 noon to 12:45 for the 14th M-P Brigade, 1 to 1:45 p-m for the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, and 2 to 2:45 p-m for USAG-FLW. Participants should bring their own chalk, and draw a happy picture. Art areas will be six feet apart. Parents, adults, or guardians must ensure children maintain appropriate safe distances. Children can also participate from home by uploading pictures of artwork on Facebook and tagging them with hashtag: FLWBrightenYourCommunity.
