Shooting victims treated with blood from Red Relay

A shooting outside a Lake Ozark bar last week required some quick action on the part of the Community Blood Center of the Ozarks, and an assist from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. According to Chris Pilgrim with the CBCO they received an urgent request from Lake Regional Hospital after 5 people arrived at the hospital with gunshot wounds..

Pilgrim said they have only had to use this relay method a few times over the past 10 years. He said they were grateful that the blood was available, but it emphasis the need for people to give blood to the CBCO. Currently the CBCO is in critical need of donors.
