The grand opening of Nelson Park in Lebanon will be held on Friday at 5 pm. The new park, a joint venture between the City of Lebanon and the Lebanon R-III School District, features four ball diamonds, a concession stand, T-ball fields, and more. The park also connects with the Coleman Memorial Conservation Area trail system, resulting in a park experience of more than 100 acres. City Events Coordinator Jessica Fox said there will be several activities taking place

Officials have scheduled a ceremony at 5 p.m. featuring remarks from Mayor Jared Carr, park board president Raeann Graven Shoemaker and Lebanon Parks Director John Shelton. Nelson’s family descendent, Luke Ross, will throw the first pitch with Mayor Carr prior to a scrimmage baseball game.

Community members will also have the opportunity to thank our linemen in person for their response following the May 4 storms that hit Lebanon. The electric department will have utility vehicles and equipment available for community members to get an up-close look. Nelson Park is located at 2600 Buzz Pride Drive adjacent to Lebanon Middle School.
