June is Army Heritage Month
June is Army Heritage Month, and Fort Leonard Wood has events planned to highlight the history and culture of the branch in the weeks surrounding the Army Birthday on June 14th. Events this year include a Strength Through Diversity weightlifting competition that begins at 8 a.m. on June 9th at Swift Gym, located at the corner of West 16th Street and Buckeye Avenue; a cultural diversity food event, featuring foods from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, taking place from June 12th to 16th at all of the installation’s dining facilities; an open house at the John B. Mahaffey Museum Complex, from 8 a.m. to noon on June 15th; and a golf scramble that begins at 1 p.m. on June 15th at Piney Valley Golf Course.
