Fire on Mountain Grove Square

Several fire departments from around the Mountain Grove area responded to a blaze around noon on Tuesday that appears to have originated inside the event center and then spread to several other structures, including a church, which eventually was consumed by the fire. The fire on the western side of the square in Mountain Grove damaged buildings that housed the Stone Cottage Inn and Huckleberry Treats. Officials say three businesses are likely a total loss.

Officials believe the building may have collapsed onto some nearby power lines, creating a spark that may have ignited the fire. The state fire marshall will continue the investigation.

There were no injuries reported.
