A Saint Louis man was taken to the Pulaski County Jail following a two-vehicle accident on I-44 at the 150.2-mile marker westbound at 6:00 p.m. Monday. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that 57-year-old Robert N. Parnell of Saint Louis was driving while intoxicated when he changed lanes on the interstate and struck a tractor-trailer driven by 41-year-old Derrick D. Covington also of Saint Louis. Both vehicles ran off the right side of the interstate causing the tractor-trailer to overturn. Covington suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Phelps Health in Rolla. Parnell did not report any injuries and was transported to the Pulaski County Jail and is facing charges of driving while intoxicated resulting in physical injury, possession of marijuana, and careless and imprudent driving involving a crash.
