33-year-old Kevin James Ash of Lebanon is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Judge Steve Jackson on Tuesday. Ash is accused of killing 45-year-old Bobby Langston at his residence in the 1100 block of West Elm on August 31st. Ash is free on a $5,000 cash or surety bond, with conditions that he will reside at his home in Lebanon and shall not possess firearms.

According to a probable cause statement, Ash called the Lebanon Police Department after shooting his step-brother, Langston. Ash had gotten into a verbal fight with other family members when Langston got involved. Ash was arguing with their father when Langston interrupted to stop the fight. According to police, Ash shot Langston and then told their father that he would kill him “just like I did your son.”

Ash allegedly stashed the handgun in a shop area and called the police. He then played a recording of the argument that he captured on his phone to the police.

Ash is charged with 2nd-degree murder and Armed Criminal Action and has been released on bond.
