State Could Allocate $50 Million For World Cup In K.C.

Missouri is on the verge of putting 50-million-dollars into helping Kansas City organize the 2026 World Cup. The Missouri Legislature’s state budget proposal includes designating the funding to the Jackson County Sports Authority. During a news conference Thursday in Kansas City, Governor Mike Parson hinted at his support of the budget item.

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly followed up by pledging that her state will work to support Kansas City for the event, but she did not say whether her state would provide state funding.
