Two Injured After Boat Explodes And Sinks At Lake Of The Ozarks

A man and woman suffered injuries in a boat fire at Lake of the Ozarks at 3:20 Thursday afternoon.

The Missouri Water Patrol identified those injured as 35-year-old Amanda Kingston of Winncotte, Pennsylvania, and 78-year-old Benny Thomas of Four Seasons, Missouri.

Deputy Chief Rob Odenwald with the Sunrise Beach Fire Protection District says it happened at Pointe Oasis near the 13-mile mark at Wideford Hollow Cove. Investigators say the boat had a mechanical failure within the engine that caused an explosion. Odenwald says the boat eventually sank.

Kingston suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Univerisity Hospital in Columbia. Thomas, who was driving the boat, suffered minor injuries and was transported to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach.
