The oldest church still meeting in Pulaski County has changed its name. The United Methodist Church of Waynesville has changed its name, effective today, to Waypoint United Methodist Church.
Lead Pastor Brett Reith says, “One of the hopes expressed during the visioning process was that we would better connect with all of the communities we serve. Our church is THE United Methodist presence for Saint Robert, Waynesville, Fort Leonard Wood, and several surrounding communities of Pulaski County.’ The church has its roots dating to 1833 when Wilson Tilley requested a Methodist circuit rider come to host a monthly spiritual service for his family. In 1875, another Methodist group began meeting in Waynesville proper.
