An October 5th bond review hearing has been set for a Steelville man who is facing charges related to crimes against a child. 63-year-old Jerry Calkins was arrested by Phelps County law enforcement following an investigation by the Phelps County and Crawford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri Department of Social Services Children’s Division that began on September 20th. Calkins is accused of making a child under the age of 14 perform sexual acts on him over a period of at least 3 years. Calkins is charged with 3 counts of statutory sodomy and is jailed with a bond of $250-thousand-dollars. Detectives are continuing to investigate.
