Missouri will build a 183-million-dollar state-of-the-art laboratory campus in Jefferson City. Lab work completed by several state agencies will be under one roof, including the Missouri Departments of Public Safety, Health and Senior Services, Agriculture, Conservation, and Natural Resources. Governor Parson asked lawmakers to use federal coronavirus aid to make the complex a reality. During a news conference to announce the investment, Public Safety Director Sandy Karsten said Thursday was an important day for the state’s crime victims.

In 2021, the State Highway Patrol’s crime lab received more than 29 thousand cases. The campus is scheduled to be up and running by the end of 2026.
