Members of the Tri-County Fire Protection District, Hazelgreen Fire Protection District, and Waynesville Rural Fire Protection District had a rather unusual call Wednesday. Just after 11:00 AM, firefighters were called to a pond where a horse named Molly had fallen through the ice on the pond.

Fighting extreme cold, rescuers entered the pond in ice suits, wrapped Molly with a large strap, and, using a winch from a fire truck,  pulled her from the pond. Firefighters wrapped Molly in a tarp and used a heater to keep her warm until she could stand independently. Molly is expected to make a complete recovery.
