Licking Man Held In Pulaski County On Drug and Other Charges

A man from Licking faced charges of drug trafficking in Pulaski County following the discovery of four pounds of methamphetamine in a vehicle.

According to court records, Pulaski County detectives received information about a potential kidnapping and sexual assault incident from Springfield around 11:27 p.m. on Thursday, February 29th.

Detectives reached the Road Ranger truck stop in St. Robert shortly after midnight, where deputies had spotted a small plastic bag, suspected to contain fentanyl, on the center console of a vehicle driven by 41-year-old John Weaver.

Upon arrival, detectives found emergency medical personnel already present, conversing with Weaver’s female passenger, urging her to undergo a sexual assault examination at the hospital due to rape allegations.

Weaver’s vehicle was impounded and searched at the Sheriff’s Office, leading investigators to discover a green and black bag containing two separate bags, each holding two pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

Furthermore, they uncovered a baggie containing two grams of suspected fentanyl, along with two loaded Hi-Point pistols found in a white bag on the back seat.

Investigators also seized 11 cell phones, tablets, and laptops as potential evidence.

Weaver has been charged with First-Degree Drug Trafficking, two counts of Delivery of a Controlled Substance, and two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.

He was subsequently booked into the Pulaski County Jail, where he was held on a $200,000 bond. A bond review hearing will be held on March 12th, and a preliminary hearing will be held on March 25th in Pulaski County.
