The Laclede County Health Department Board of Trustees were given an update on finalized fiscal year contracts during their Thursday night meeting. Laclede County Health Department Administrator, Charla Baker, told the board the WIC contract is the department’s largest, and also contains some special funding…………

The department also receives 13-thousand dollars in special funding due to their designation as a breastfeeding-friendly clinic. The department also receives around 30-thousand dollars for the Maternal Child Health contract, and around 10-thousand dollars through the Child Care Health Consultation contract.

Board members were also given an update on the flooring installation during Thursday night’s meeting. Baker told the board the installation is progressing nicely, but there has been some damage that will have to be repaired………

The original new flooring became an issue when the glue started to seep through the cracks, and had to be completely removed and replaced. That project should be completed within the next few weeks.

Board members also discussed the first draft of the Fiscal Year 2020 budget during the meeting. Baker says one part of the budget will need to be addressed during the December board meeting……….

There was some discussion about whether the department will be covering the cost of the insurance increase, or if that will be paid by the employees. A final decision will have to be made during December’s meeting………

Board members also updated the employee dress code. Baker says the change will impact the type of footwear some employees wear……

Board members also discussed bids for an audit that will cover the years 2016, 2017, and 2018. That issue was tabled to allow another bid to come in, due to an addressing error by the department. Baker also told the board the department will soon be receiving the new vehicle that was purchased from the state.
