Today is a big “budget markup day” in the Missouri House Appropriations Committee, where the state’s spending plans are debated first.
Representatives will be making changes and trying to get through their amendments.

Dirk Deaton, Republican from McDonald and southern Newton counties, is the budget Vice-Chair:

The Committee started with the governor’s $34.1 billion budget proposal- including incoming federal funds.
The state’s own General Budget is $10 point 5 billion without federal funds.
