Hospitals Need Space
The Springfield area in southwest Missouri is running out of room and workers to care for patients. Public health, emergency management, and hospital leaders have asked the state to help them open an alternative care site and add staff to deal with a surge in coronavirus patients. Springfield’s hospitals reported about 230 COVID-19 patients, and Joplin reported at least 62 on Wednesday. During a press conference, Cox Health CEO Steve Edwards says the hospital is at its capacity.
