Gun May Have Been Found in Memorial Weekend Murder

Authorities in Camden County believe they have found the gun used in a deadly shooting at Shady Gators at Lake of the Ozarks over Memorial Day weekend.

The weapon was found by divers near Shady Gators.

Officials say that 29-year old Chad Brewer of Jefferson City shot 27-year old Vonza Watson of Kansas City in the stomach on May 29. Watson later died from his injuries. Investigators later charged 23-year old Craig Hawkins of Jefferson City with second-degree murder in the death.

The gun will need to go through forensic analysis before it is confirmed that it was the weapon used in the homicide.

Once ballistics have been confirmed, Camden County Prosecutor James Caleb Cunningham says there could be additional charges.
