Eldridge Couple Suffer Serious Injuries In Monday Night Accident

An Eldridge couple suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle accident at 6:00 p.m. Monday on north Highway 5 at Highway E in Laclede County. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that a pickup driven by 79-year-old Michael D. Inman of Eldridge failed to negotiate a turn onto highway E, traveled off the left side of the road, striking the ground and a fence, the pickup then went down a hill entering highway 5 and hit another pickup driven by 37-year-old Jose G. Mejia Marquez of Lebanon. The Inman pickup then ran off the right side of highway 5 and came to rest in the ditch. Inman and a passenger in his pickup, 73-year-old Barbara A. Inman, were both airlifted to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The Inmans were not wearing a safety device.
