Authorities in Wright County are continuing their investigation into a standoff where a man took his own life near Hartville. Law enforcement responded to a residence near State Highway Z and Krause Road north of Hartville after a phone call saying the caller’s fiance was acting suicidal. When authorities arrived, the man inside the home fired a revolver, causing a deputy sheriff at the scene to return fire. When officers were able to enter the home, they found a man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident occurred at around 11 a.m. Wright County Sheriff, Sonny Byerley, has asked the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri Highway Patrol to continue the investigation.
