The Laclede County Health Board has renewed its contract with Women Infants and Children (WIC). The Missouri WIC program provides supplemental food, health care referrals, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, and support to eligible pregnant women, new mothers, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants, and children up to age 5.  Health Department Administrator Charla Baker says she’s optimistic about the contract.

The contract funding breaks out into different sections. Over $2,000 is received for each caseload, as well as special funding for breastfeeding support and special funding for WIC staff to be able to attend their bi-annual conference. The total cost is $253,039.

The new contract has been approved by the state and started on October 1st.
