(Crocker)–After lower infection rates over the Christmas-New Year’s holiday, the weekly count of Covid-19 cases in Pulaski County is up again. As of Monday, January 11th, there were 389 positive cases since January 4th. During that period, the Pulaski County Health Department reports there were 3 Covid-related deaths for an aggregate total of 42. The P-C-R 7-day positivity rate, which was below 20 percent last week, jumped up to 34.2 percent. Pulaski County is still listed as a Category 1, Extreme Risk county. The health department anticipates beginning to give the Covid-19 vaccine to 1-A eligible individuals this week. Those who will be receiving the vaccine first will be patient-facing health care workers, long-term care facility residents, and staff.
When vaccine availability expands, those who will receive the vaccine will be elderly individuals and residents most at risk. Phase 2 will make the vaccine available for populations of increased risk. Phase 3 will indicate that there is widespread availability of the vaccine for all Missouri residents.
