Weather service says 3-7 inches of rain fell overnight

The latest update from the National Weather Service in Springfield:

Widespread significant flooding across the area.
* Heaviest rainfall northwest of an Ava to Salem line.
* 3 to 7 inches of rainfall fell in the heaviest band.
* Numerous water rescues and road closures due to flooding.
* Many rivers are in moderate flooding or forecast into moderate.
* More storms today into tonight as the low moves into the area.
* A few of these storms may be strong to severe with hail, wind, and additional heavy rain as the main risks.
