Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber makes the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Veterans’ Day Parade
(St. Robert)–The Waynesville-St. Robert Chamber has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Veterans’ Day Parade to comply with social distancing and event attendance health and safety guidelines. While the Veterans’ Day Ceremony will be moving forward it will be closed to the public. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Chamber Facebook page and here on KFBD, 97.9 F-M. During the ceremony, the Chamber will honor Daniel Barnes, the 2019 Veteran of Year, whom the Chamber was unable to honor last year due to cancellation caused by inclement weather. In light of this, the Chamber is encouraging the community and Veteran Organizations to submit photographs of their Veterans to be featured in a virtual slideshow that will be shared on social media. In addition, the Chamber is suggesting that area businesses decorate their windows to honor our Veterans, using the Parade theme “In Your Honor.” From there, the Chamber is asking that they share a photograph of their displays on their own social media pages and include the hashtag, #VeteransDayInYourHonor, to make it easier for the community to find.
