Waynesville man arrested in Maries County on drug charges
Maries County Sheriff’s officers stopped a man from Waynesville on Highway 28, near Vienna Early Saturday morning, for having no front license plate on his vehicle.
The driver, 48-year-old Anthony Destefano, had a revoked driver’s license and could not provide proof of insurance. He was placed under arrest for driving while revoked.
During the roadside investigation, Destefano told the deputy he had a bag of marijuana in the glove box and some “ice” in the driver’s door in a pill bottle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of the marijuana & the “ice” inside the pill bottle as well as an additional red in color bag containing suspected methamphetamine. A field test of the suspected methamphetamine tested positive for its presence. Anthony Destefano (des-uh-FAWN-oh) was charged by the Maries County Prosecutor for Possession of a Controlled Substance (methamphetamine) ; Possession of Marijuana; Driving while Revoked a misdemeanor; Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (insurance) a misdemeanor. Anthony Destefanowas being held in the Maries County Jail without bond.
