Waynesville Man Arrested After 7 Hour Search

Maries County authorities arrested 50-year-old Steven L. Jones of Waynesville at around 5:30 Tuesday evening, after searching the area for 7 hours and after a dangerous vehicle pursuit.
Jones has an extensive record with active stealing warrants out of Laclede and Phelps County and had an active warrant from Missouri Probation & Parole for Parole violations. It was also determined the Mustang he was driving at the time of his arrest was stolen from Iberia in July.

Jones has been a guest of the Missouri Department of Corrections 5 times for various offenses. He is now facing charges of Speeding, Driving while Revoked drivers License-felony, Resisting Arrest by Fleeing-causing substantial risk of serious injury or death, Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility, and Motor Vehicle Tampering-1st degree- a felony. Maries County authorities are working with neighboring jurisdictions to determine if they are working on cases of stolen property involving the large number of items located inside the stolen mustang. Jones remains in the Maries County Jail in Vienna.
