Waynesville Eighth-Graders Sent Home to Learn Virtually Until October 5th
The Waynesville School District received notification on Friday that four more individuals at Waynesville Middle School have tested positive for the novel coronavirus, COVID-19.
In consultation with the Pulaski County Health Department, all 8th graders will be going to school virtually through Friday, October 2nd. Eighth graders, including members of the White Team, may return to school on Monday, October 5th. All 8th grade sports have been cancelled through October 2nd.
Seventh grade students may remain in school, per guidance from the Pulaski County Health Department.
Under the direction of the Pulaski County Health Department, students who have had close contact with the positive cases have been or will be contacted privately and will be in isolation for 14 days.
To be clear, only those students who are contacted privately via phone and told that they are close contacts of the positive cases will need to follow the Pulaski County Health Department’s recommendations for 14 days of isolation, but all 8th graders will be learning virtually, regardless of their need to isolate or not.
The district immediately conducted extra deep cleaning in impacted areas and will continue to follow all recommended safety guidelines.
