The Waynesville City Council is moving forward with plans to draw up articles of impeachment against embattled Mayor Jerry Brown. At Thursday evening’s meeting of the city finance and human services committee, Waynesville City Councilwoman Amanda Koren is quoted as saying, “We’re going to move forward with articles of impeachment.”
Mayor Brown was censured in April for alleged abusive conduct toward city staff, attempting to have the public works director fired, and interference in the hiring of a new economic development director.
Once the articles of impeachment are drawn up, the issue will be brought before the full council to act upon.
Koren admits that removing the mayor from office will likely be a long process.
