The regular monthly meeting of the Waynesville City Council will take place this evening at 5 o’clock in the Waynesville Municipal Center. Council members will consider seven ordinances, four of which deal with establishing grant programs to benefit the community. One ordinance would establish a grant program for the Build It Better Program, another would establish a grant program for the Utility Bill Relief Program, still, another would establish a grant program to provide premium pay for grocery and convenience store workers during the Covid pandemic, and a fourth ordinance would establish a grant program to provide premium pay for city essential workers during the Covid pandemic. Waynesville city council members also will consider an ordinance to add Juneteenth to the community’s paid holiday dates. Douglas Potts is scheduled to be appointed Waynesville Economic Development Coordinator.
