Imagine going back to a holiday celebration in your hometown, with the lights and decorations, the good cheer, family and friends, and the holiday spirit. You can do something like it at Christmas on the Square, sponsored by Festival on the Square, on the Downtown Waynesville Square. Bring the entire family down and enjoy the evening.
From 6 to 9 o’clock this evening, there will be Christmas carolers on the beautifully decorated square, a live nativity scene, pictures with Santa and the Grinch, holiday vendors, free food and beverages, and specialty vendors with delicious food for sale.
And Downtown Waynesville merchant Tim Berrier says Christmas on the Square will be kicked off with the traditional Waynesville ceremony of the lighting of the Nativity Scene atop Bell Bluff overlooking the Downtown Square.
There will be no admission charge to attend.
The city will shut down Historic Route 66 at five o’clock this evening. It will reopen after 9 o’clock.
