Waynesville Athletic Figures To Be Inducted Into Hall of Fame

There will be several outstanding athletic talent inducted into the Waynesville High School Athletic/Activity Hall of Fame later this month. The induction will take place at the annual Route 66 Shootout, which will be held December 15th and 16th at Waynesville High School with seven games being played during the two days of the shootout. In addition, the first class of the Waynesville High School Athletic/Activity Hall of Fame inductees will be honored prior to the 7 o’ clock Waynesville boys basketball game on Friday, December 15th.
The inductees will include the 1951 Boys Basketball MSHSAA champion runnerups, Norman Anderson, Bobby Dodds, Kenny Foster, Gary Hansen, Dwight Hensley and Vic Lynch.
Other inductees will be WHS Football coach for many years, Rick Vernon, Russell Shelden–a Cross Country participant and coach, and Richard Gan, an outstanding wrestler at Waynesville High School.
By the way, admission to the Route 66 Shootout will be $10 per person for the weekend or $6 per day. All tickets may be purchased at the door. All individuals over age 5 will need to purchase tickets, including senior citizens, season pass holders, annual pass holders and staff with athletic passes, as these are not regular season games.
