Watch out for Card Skimmers at the Pump

Card skimming is a way that thieves can steal your money at ATMs or at the fuel pump. Recently a card skimmer was found at a gas pump in Lebanon. Lebanon Police Sergeant Kacie Springer tells us the skimmer was found attached to the pump by an inspector.

She said they haven’t gotten that forensic information back yet, so they really don’t know how much, if any, information was stolen. A card skimmer is sometimes hard to detect.

Springer said a quick tug on the card reader before you insert your card can also determine if a card skimmer is on the pump or ATM. If you suspect that a card skimmer has been put in, contact the Police Department and they can do an inspection of the device.
