Watch how you date your checks in 2020

As you’re signing checks and contracts this year, be sure you’re filling out the complete date, rather than just ending it with 20. Consumer protection specialist Lara Sutherlin says forgetting to add the ending digits to 2020 could let someone who’s less than honest swindle you.

Sutherlin says this is more about prevention than assuming that companies are actively out to scam you.
