A Missouri doctor says he expects fairly significant levels of COVID-19 transmission through the holidays. Dr. Clay Dunagan, an infectious disease expert with Washington University in St. Louis, says the pandemic could be shifting to a new phase. He says a pattern of coronavirus case tracking shows a strong suggestion that the continued evolution of the virus will probably have periodic surges.

 

Dunagan says it is too soon to predict the long-term pattern of the virus.
