Bills have been filed in the Missouri House and Senate that would give victims of domestic violence greater protection from their abusers. The bills would prevent anyone with an active order of protection against them from owning or purchasing a firearm. The bills would also make it illegal for someone convicted of domestic violence to own or purchase a firearm. Laclede County Sheriff, David Milsap, says domestic violence calls are ones that they respond to far too regularly……..

Sheriff Milsap says our justice system needs to do a better job of working for the victims of crimes………

As of today, those bills have not been assigned a hearing date.
