Urbana Woman Injured After Being Hit By Truck On I-44

A 33-year-old Urbana woman suffered serious injuries at 5:48 Wednesday evening on Interstate 44, 3 miles east of Mount Vernon in Lawrence County. The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that Crystal S. Melton was a pedestrian on the interstate when a black Dodge pickup impacted her right arm. The driver of the pickup left the scene before authorities arrived on the scene. Melton was taken to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
