Two Dead, One Injured In Motorcycle Crash Near Collins

A collision Sunday involving two motorcycles has led to the loss of two lives.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that, at approximately 11:25 a.m., a Suzuki motorcycle carrying 59-year-old Jessie Ray and a female passenger, 42-year-old Jean Ray, both of Aurora, were traveling west on a county road intersection near the Pilot Travel Center on Highway 13 near Collins.
The incident occurred when Ray failed to yield the right of way to another motorcyclist, 60-year-old Ronald Wallace from Bolivar, heading north on Highway 13. This resulted in a collision that propelled both motorcycles off the road and ejected all three individuals.
Ray succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. The female passenger and Ronald Wallace were airlifted separately to Springfield hospitals and were listed in serious condition. Wallace’s condition deteriorated, and he passed away early Monday morning.
Law enforcement authorities have noted that Jessie Ray and his passenger were wearing helmets. At the same time, it remains uncertain whether Ronald Wallace had been wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
