Two charged in theft of UTV’s
Two men are facing multiple charges in connection with the theft of property and property damage in Sunrise Beach. According to documents filed with the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, an officer responded to a business in the 300 block of State Road F where it was reported that two UTV’s had been stolen. It was also reported that several thousand dollars in damage had occured when the suspects attempted to hotwire other UTV’s. During the investigation, law enforcement was able to obtain information related to the theft and attempted to pull over a pickup that was pulling a trailer. The suspect, later identified as Ryan Pierceall of Sibley sped away traveling down several roads and into a field, where the pickup and the patrol car hit large rocks causing damage to both vehicles. Pierceal was taken into custody. Officers then responded to a second location to recover the other UTV and made contact with Matthew D. Goans who was asleep in another truck, and had the other stolen UTV. While standing near the truck one of the officers reportedly observed a glass pipe, and a small baggie with a crystal substance that tested positive as methamphetamine. Pierceall is charged with two counts of tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest and is currently being held without bond. Matthew Goans of Independence is charged with 2 counts of tampering with a motor vehicle and 1 count of possession of a controlled substance and being held without bond with another court date set for July 10th.
