Update: Trooper shoots kidnapping suspect in Eldon

An investigation into an officer involved shooting is underway in Miller County. Several Law Enforcement officers responded to the 200 block of North Leeds Avenue in Eldon, when a call came in about a possible hostage situation. According to the Highway Patrol, the caller reported that two women were hiding in a closet and there was a man who was armed with a knife and gasoline. When officers from the Highway Patrol, Eldon Police and the Miller County Sheriff’s Office arrived, they spoke with the man inside the house, and he began throwing objects including knives at the officers. A trooper fired at the suspect and wounded him. The suspect identified as 34 year old David Wallace of Eldon was taken to Lake Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Wallace is charged with 2 counts of kidnapping, and 3 counts of assault. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control continues to investigate this incident.
