With Halloween being on a Sunday this year, a couple of area communities have selected this Saturday for residential trick-or-treating. Fort Leonard Wood will allow trick-or-treating in residential housing areas Saturday evening from 6 to 8 o’clock. The official trick or treating hours in Dixon this Saturday will be from 6:30 to 9 o’clock in residential areas. In addition, downtown Dixon will be hosting Trick or Treat on Main Street Saturday as well. Communities sticking with the traditional Halloween date of October 31st will be Richland, Crocker, Waynesville, and St. Robert. Trick-or-treating will be allowed in Waynesville from 6 to 9 o’clock Sunday evening. The official trick-or-treating hours in St. Robert will be 5 to 8 p-m Sunday. Crocker will be observing Halloween trick-or-treating Sunday evening from 5 to 9 o’clock, however, A TRUNK OR TREAT EVENT WILL BE HELD SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30TH, FROM 5 TO 7 P-M IN CROCKER COMMUNITY PARK. THERE WILL BE FREE HOTDOGS WHILE SUPPLY LASTS, FREE HAYRIDES, A PUMPKIN CARVING CONTEST, A HALLOWEEN COSTUME CONTEST, AND ONE TRUNK OR TREAT VEHICLE WILL WIN A $50 CASH PRIZE FOR THE BEST DECORATED AND MOST CREATIVE VEHICLE. Richland’s hours for trick-or-treating will be 5 to 9 o’clock Sunday evening. The Richland Chamber of Commerce will be having Trunk or Treat in downtown Richland as well. Businesses and individuals can decorate their vehicles and hand out candy to children starting at 5 o’clock. This past Saturday, Richland’s Trail of Treats was a great success with 750 children reportedly walking the trail in Shady Dell Park and receiving candy and other handouts.
