Traveling Nurses Making Big Bucks

The nursing shortage has worsened during the pandemic – paving the way for traveling nurses to make big bucks. Heidi Lucas, with the Missouri Nurses Association, says the demand for traveling nurses in Missouri and throughout the country costs hospitals big bucks.

Lucas says some nurses are leaving permanent jobs to instead work as a traveling nurse. She urges Missouri hospitals to increase pay instead and provide more flexible schedules and retention bonuses for nurses in permanent positions.
