Today is the last day to file for county, state, and federal public office for the August primary election

Today is the last day to file for county, state, and federal public office for the August primary election. County candidates should file at their county’s clerk’s office while state and federal candidates should file at the Secretary of State’s office in Jefferson City. A recent check shows that both state representatives from Pulaski County have picked up opponents, not for the primary election but for the general election in November. 124th District State Representative Don Mayhew, a Republican, of Crocker, is being opposed by Democrat, Tara Hallmark of Dixon. 121st District State Representative Bill Hardwick of Waynesville is being opposed by Democrat, Brandon Swartz, of Waynesville. Mayhew, Hallmark, and Hardwick filed on the opening day of the filing period, February 27th. Swartz filed on March 19th. The candidate filing period closes at 5 o’clock this evening.
