Today is Harry Truman’s birthday, a state holiday here in Missouri. State employees have the day off from work, various union members whose contracts include Truman’s birthday as a holiday, and various other people may have the day off, but not for the rest of us. And state lawmakers will be on the job today, trying to pass some contentious bills in this final week of the regular legislative session. The Missouri State Highway Patrol would like to remind the public that driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed today in observance of Truman Day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, May 9th. Driver examination stations will also be closed on Monday, May 29th, during Memorial Day. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, May 30th.
