Tibetan Monks kick off the opening of Leach Theater Friday 8/25/23

A new performing arts season will begin tonight at Leach Theatre on the Missouri University of Science Campus in Rolla. The Leach Theatre’s Artistic Director Kevin Shaw says the leadoff event to the season will be a performance by a group of visiting Tibetan monks.

In Tibet, whenever a monastery celebrated a spiritual festival, people from the surrounding villages and nomadic tribes would assemble in the monastery’s courtyard for three or four days of sacred music, chants, and rituals. Performance time will be at 7:30 this evening. Tickets are available for $30 per adult, $25 per youth, and $10 per S-and-T student.
